Craft It!

We asked Sheila Long, recreation supervisor at the Imperial Centre, to show us a cool holiday craft kids and parents could easily make for the upcoming season. Here's a Christmas glitter globe made by a Boys and Girls Club student. Let's get started!

To complete this project, you'll need glitter, a jar, miniature items to glue inside the jar, a hot glue gun and water. You can purchase miniature items at a craft store or just use your favorite LEGO people or small toys you already have at home

Use a hot glue gun and glue miniature items to the inside of the jar's top. An adult should do this part. You can use small Christmas items, small toy people, LEGO people, whatever you want. They will be submerged in water, so make sure they won't come apart when wet. Next, add glitter, fake snow or confetti to the jar. A teaspoon should be enough for a small jar. Add some water to the jar, but don't fill it all the way up. When the glue is dry on miniature items, you can carefully put the top on and screw on tightly. You're done! Shake lightly and enjoy! Want more crafty fun? Join the Imperial Centre staff for its December First Friday event on Dec. 5. It's a free event with live music, admission to the Children's Museum, ice skating, lighting of the Christmas lights, carriage rides, meet with Santa and you can pre-register for a hands-on craft project (making silk scarves) for just $5.
